'Boro Parents Plead Guilty to Child Neglect

Two Murfreesboro parents plead guilty to child neglect in the death of their infant child.

Jason Scott Ormonde and Colleen Delaney made their plea Thursday in a Rutherford County Courtroom and were sentenced to 15-years in prison. They were both charged with aggravated child neglect following the April 2016 death of their one-month old child.

Niyalee Ormonde reportedly was found with broken ribs, were malnourished and tested positive for meth.

The parents of a one month old in Murfreesboro who died in their care have a court date set to file a plea later this month.

35 Year old Jason Scott Ormonde and 31 year old Colleen Delaney were arrested on Tuesday this past September by Murfreesboro Police (9/4/16). The two live on Betsy Ann Avenue.

The duo will face charges for felony murder, aggravated child neglect and aggravated child abuse when they appear in court to file a plea on November 29, 2016. Ormonde will appear with a Public Defender and Delaney has hired attorney Travis Lampley. Both remain behind bars at this time and each are being held under a $500,000 bond.

The baby was said to have broken ribs and was reportedly malnourished at the time of her death this past April. Police say that the child's clothing, diapers and crib all tested positive for methamphetamine.

After the childs death, Jason Ormonde wrote in a FaceBook post, "We still don't have answers and I will never understand how or why god would take her from us!"
