La Vergne officials held an information session at 7:30 Tuesday night (11/8/2011) to inform the public on efforts for the municipality getting a school board seat along with details of the new districting plans.

On Monday night (11/7/2011) the Steering, Legislative & Governmental Committee of the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners voted to reject a request to change the alignment of the county's zones that would ensure La Vergne gets a seat on the school board.

The change to allow the northern municipality to have the school board seat was proposed by County Commissioner Robert Stevens. At the Tuesday night meeting, he gave the public copies of the districting plans. Commissioner Stevens and La Vergne Alderman Tom Broeker were in charge of the gathering.
