$1.9-million dollars in spending is what the Rutherford County Budget, Finance and Investment Committee will look at on Thursday night. The spending request is from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and pays for a kitchen expansion that was suggested by the state at the local jail. The kitchen expansion will cost $1.2 million dollars. The cost will be covered by development and litigation taxes. The Sheriff’s Office is also looking at spending some $500-thousand dollars to upgrade radio equipment used by dispatch daily. Another $215-thousand dollars will be used to repair brick work on the outside of the jail. The budget, finance and investment committee will meet in the courthouse at 5:30, Thursday evening.
