Rutherford County's annual veterans Day Memorial Service was held at 11am on 11-11. Sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 50's made for a perfect day. WGNS aired the program between 1-2pm and you can also find the entire ceremony online at wgnsradio.com, keyword veterans.

Elsie Stem, who has coordinated, planned and put on this program for the last 16-years announced at the end of the program, this would be her last year...

The 85-year old Stem received a standing ovation (see above photo) and Frank Hayes with the V-F-W had an emotional farewell...

Stem says she hopes someone else will now pick up the torch and coordinate Veterans Day ceremonies for the future generations here in Rutherford County.
