The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office wants to charge DUI offenders $100 for blood tests. Right now, blood alcohol tests for DUI offenders are conducted at the local hospital. The change would speed the process up by as much as two hours, which is how long some DUI offenders have to wait before receiving the needed blood alcohol tests. The Public Safety Committee will have to put their stamp of approval on the idea before it can be implemented.
