What is being labeled as a Citizen's Town Hall Meeting is set for 6:00 o'clock this coming Thursday night (12/1/2011) at the Patterson Community Center. The event is sponsored by a group that's known as The Concerned Citizen's of Rutherford County, and will address Rutherford County's Comprehensive Plan. Agenda 21 is scheduled for a vote on December 12th by the County Planning Commission.

Michelle Perkins, one of the member of the Concerned Citizens, told WGNS, "People are not paying attention to politics this time of the year, and we just want the vote postponed so that everyone can have time to study the issue."

Perkins explained that the County Planning Commission is considering changes that would make it easier to control land use including locating mixed residential-retail developments in rural areas, imminent domain for more public projects and other topics The Concerned citizen's of Rutherford County feel might take away individual's rights.

She noted that eminent domain was recently used to take the home and land of a local property owner for construction of a bicycle path. Perkins said the man's home was not going to be torn down but land near the structure was needed. She said the property owner will be at this Thursday night's Citizen's Town Hall Meeting at the Patterson Community Center to tell what happened to him.
