Smoke testing to determine rainwater infiltration or inflow in the La Vergne city sewer system is tentatively scheduled to begin December 6th. The “smoke testing” process involves the pressure injection of a nontoxic smoke into the sewers of La Vergne. A crew of technicians will canvas the area being tested looking for smoke coming from storm sewers, holes in the ground, and other places that indicate broken lines that allow rainwater to enter the sewer system. When rainwater enters the sewer line, it flows out for treatment – costing the city money.

The areas to be tested include Bill Stewart Blvd., Cedar Lake Subdivision and Cedar Glenn Subdivision.
