A Murfreesboro man allegedly told police when questioned about drugs at his Sleep Inn motel room, "I had to set up shop, you have to pay for these lawyers somehow." The statement was reportedly made by 29 year old Dustin Lee Alsup who police say had crystal meth and marijuana in his room.

Police found that a syringe and a knife were in Alsup's pocket when they arrived at his room. A gun was also located under his mattress.

Alsup was charged for having a weapon on site while in the commission of a felony due to the amount of drugs confiscated. He was also charged for possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon.

When the Murfreesboro resident heads to court, he will also face a charge of "Felony Possession of a Schedule II drug." His court date will be on August 30, 2018.

As of Monday night, Alsup remains behind bars unable to make bond.
