Stockstill, a redshirt senior, enters his final season ranked first nationally among active NCAA players in passing yards per game (288.7), second in total offense (9,265), third in passing yards (8,951) and eighth in passing efficiency. He also owns MT career records in passing yards (8,951), touchdown passes (77), 300-yard passing games (14), 400-yard passing games (2), passing yards per game (288.7) and completions (729).
Stockstill missed six games last season due to an injury but came back to lead the Blue Raiders to a win over favored Arkansas State in the Camellia Bowl.
Stockstill is one of four C-USA players amongst the 85 on the watch list, joining FAU's Devin Singletary, North Texas' Mason Fine and UAB's Spencer Brown.
The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Oct. 29, while the three finalists for the award will be unveiled Nov. 19. The winner will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, Dec. 6.
