The Murfreesboro POLICE BEAT shows several incidences involving vehicles. NewsRadio WGNS reports the incidences to give the public ideas on ways to avoid being a victim.

A Park Avenue resident called police when he discovered that the tire on his car had been slashed. Murfreesboro Police discovered surveillance cameras in the area and are hoping to obtain video of the hour in question.

A male and female yelling dispute in a South Rutherford Boulevard parking lot ended with damage to the rear fender of a resident's vehicle. Officers spoke with alleged witnesses, and are attempting to determine what occurred at this time.

A Deerview Drive resident told police that while trying to initiate a "credit freeze", he was advised by the credit bureaus that someone was indeed attempting to open credit cards. He allegedly contacted a fraud prevention website, and was told that the culprit was in Rochester, New York. They did not offer additional information.

Police responded to a "hit and run" report at a Cason Lane apartment complex. The victim told officers that the drivers side front and rear door on her 2001 Toyota Camry had been hit. while the vehicle was legally parked in front of the apartment.

And here's an odd incident, a resident was on John R. Rice Boulevard, attempting to turn onto Fortress Boulevard when he heard a thud on the 2016 Chevy Suburban that he was driving. He got out to see what happened, and discovered two blue paint splatters and dents to the front driver's side quarter panel. The police report indicates that the damage appears to be that of a paint gun.

Routine traffic stops often result in ties to criminal activities. A traffic stop on Sevier Street showed the license tag was stolen from a vehicle in another county. Law enforcement agencies contacted the victim, who confirmed that the tag was indeed stolen. Local officers gave the driver a state citation for possession of stolen property.

Murfreesboro Police responded to an "assault" call at an East Castle Street address. Once on the scene, officers learned that an argument over potential drug issues had occurred. The victim told police that there was no relationship between herself and the person in question. Officers advised the victim of the warrants process. When the victim told police that they wanted to die, they were transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for evaluation.

And that's a taste of what happens on the streets of Murfreesboro while most residents are asleep or involved in other activities.
