Rutherford County Schools will begin conducting safety drills this week at schools, continuing for three weeks. Spokesman James Evans says the annual fall drills are "an important part of our safety plan because the drills allow our schools, teachers and students to practice security procedures."

Evans says they want the public to know the drills are taking place so there's no worry if extra law enforcement is on a campus or they hear of a lock down situation.
