Rep. Mike Sparks (R-Smyrna) recognized La Vergne Alderman Melisa Brown for the hard work and extreme dedication required to graduate college
while working full-time and serving as an elected official.
The La Vergne Alderman proudly accepted the Tennessee House of Representatives proclamation with honor and a hint of a tear. "I am deeply humbled and honored by this Proclamation; it is the highest honor I have ever received."
Melisa Brown graduated Motlow State Community College, then graduated Summa Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, in 2018. Only 2% of graduates achieve the academic honor of Summa Cum Laude.
