State Representative Mike Sparks (R-Smyrna) today received an endorsement from the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association (TPFFA) in his re-election bid for the 49th House District.
The TPFFA protects legislatively the interests of all persons engaged in full-time firefighting, fire prevention, fire instructors, EMS, fire/EMS dispatch and other emergency related services in the state of Tennessee. It represents approximately 30 affiliates with an estimated 4,500 active and retired members statewide.
This year, Representative Sparks supported passage of House Bill 1510, also known as the Tennessee Public Safety & Behavioral Health Act. It provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workers and professional firefighters with access to support services at no cost in an effort to assist in the treatment of mental and behavioral health issues -- including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
"I am grateful that the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association has chosen to support my re-election efforts, and I am honored to partner with them to support our firefighters, emergency personnel, and first responders," said Representative Sparks. "These brave individuals are often called upon to respond to some of the most difficult scenarios imaginable and deserve our appreciation and support. It has been an honor to fight for them throughout my time in the General Assembly, and I look forward to continuing to back them in future years."
