An investigation by the Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Department and the Sheriff's Office into a March 27 house fire has resulted in an arrest.

Judith Johnson of Murfreesboro was arrested, according to a press release by RCFRD. She has been charged with arson and booked into the Rutherford County Jail, on a $25,000 bond. She has since bonded out.

The suspicious fire took place around 3:15 a.m., March 27, at a single-family dwelling on Sulphur Springs Road near Allen Road, the press release said. The home was unoccupied at the time, and there were no injuries.

The RCFRD said it investigates fires within Rutherford County to combat the crime of arson. Arson indirectly contributes to increased insurance premiums, higher medical costs, lost jobs, lost income and the increased cost of fire services.

Anyone with information on a fire is asked to call the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 800-762-3017. Information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect can result in an award of up to $5,000.
