The Rutherford County Sheriff's Department is warning citizens of a scam.

Crooks are posing as sheriff's deputies to get money. A Murfreesboro man was taken for nearly 17-hundred dollars just this week in such a scam.

Officials say sheriff's deputues will never collect cash from people.
