Murfreesboro Police Chief Michael Bowen, Policy and Accreditations Lt. Clayton Williams and PIO Larry Flowers interact with timely law and order information that benefits local residents.
They discussed whether or not the rapid back-and-forth weather changes from winter to spring impacted crime. It was determined that the city's growth has made it so that there are few peaks and valleys. Activity is consistently up.
Chief Bowen was asked about the status on a decision about whether the city had come closer to a decision on using motorcycle patrols? Chief Bowen indicated that the use of motorcycles would more than likely on be for special events. The days of motorcycle patrols for traffic control and general police work is no a safe way to utilize the talents of officers.
There is also conversation about some of the new areas of testing balistics and matching weapons used in one city to crimes in other geographic areas.
