The Tennessee Historical Commission and Tennessee Wars Commission announced the purchase of more battlefield land in Murfreesboro.

The plot of land that was purchased by O'Reilly Auto Parts to build a distribution center will become part of the Stones River Battlefield. The purchase is moving forward after a large number of residents complained about the location for O'Reilly suggesting it should be part of the battlefield park and that a distribution center would create too much traffic congestion.

The purchase will cost a little over $1.8 million. That price includes 42 acres that was once land that the battle took place on.
