Although reasons are not known, a motorist told 911 operators they were driving behind a car on West Jefferson Pike around 10:50 Friday morning when a person in that vehicle fired a shot at Walter Hill School. The telecommunicator with the Rutherford Countyy Sheriffs Office said the witness claims that he saw smoke coming from the weapon.

Police are looking for a black Ford Taurus that was last seen heading toward Smyrna on West Jefferson Pike at a high rate of speed. 

Since schools will not be open again until next Wednesday, there were no persons at the school.
