The Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford County is holding their Fourth Annual Hometown Heroes Walk for Children on Friday, April 26, 2019. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza (corner of Vine St and S. Church St.), downtown.
Congress declared April to be National Child Abuse Prevention Month in 1983. Since then, communities across our nation and here in Rutherford and Cannon Counties have taken this opportunity to raise community awareness about child abuse through candlelight vigils, pinwheel gardens, award presentations, and community events like the "Hometown Heroes Walk for Children."
An awards ceremony and presentation honoring the heroes who work hard to fight and prevent child abuse everyday begins at 11:45 a.m. and the walk begins at 12:00 noon. Complimentary shuttles will run from the Child Advocacy Center (1040 Samsonite Blvd.) to Civic Plaza from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
