On Monday (1/2/2012) former Rutherford County Sheriff Truman Jones celebrated his first anniversary with WGNS. His popular Truman Show covers local history, fun conversation and a mix of good humor and fun. The retired 38-year lawman includes healthy doses of flag waving as well as good advice to parents.

In commemoration of this milestone, Jones was presented an engraved award thanking him for the local memories shared in his unique talk show that is heard weekday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:00 on WGNS.

Legendery local jounalist Dan Whittle was Truman guest, just as it was when he started this new career 365 days ago.

Jones said, "I love visiting with friends each day. When we started, I was concerned that we'd run out of topics. That won't happen, because there are so many interesting stories about this area. Later this week, historian Greg Tucker will join me along with a family from Eagleville who have devoted their lives to renovating pipe organs."

The Rutherford County native was a natural for local radio. After spending most of his life in law enforcement, he has experienced the good, bad and ugly of this community. It creates a unique perspective about which to run a talk radio show.
