Each year in Rutherford County, the TSSAA holds their annual Spring Fling, an Olympic-style event featuring the state's top athletes. The championship games include tennis, baseball, softball, soccer, and track & field. The games were held May 21st - 24th, 2019.

Held at 13 different venues across Rutherford County, this week-long event brings in more than 5,000 athletes and approximately 30,000 spectators. The undertaking is massive as it takes a huge number of volunteers, but the economic impact is well worth it. Barbara Wolke, vice president of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau said, "With an economic impact of $3.5 million, Spring Fling is not only a great boost to our economy but also offers some quality family entertainment."

Rutherford County has hosted Spring Fling since 2006 and currently has the contract through 2021.
