(MURFREESBORO) At 6:00 o'clock Wednesday (8/7/2019) night Rutherford County Fire Rescue rushed to a two-story structure fire on Deer Run Road.

When first responders arrived, the home was already fully engulfed in flames.

Heavy smoke and fire were seen upon arrival with flames shooting out of the top of the structure.

The fire was reported to have started on the second story or in the attic and rapidly progressed. Crews engaged in an interior attack as the fire spread quickly to engulf the home.

Chief Larry Farley said, "Without a close source of water, multiple tankers were called-in and shuttled it from a hydrant about a mile and a half away, A drop tank was employed, and all was made more difficult by the narrow gravel road."

All occupants, including a few cats, were able to get out safely and there are no injuries reported. The American Red Cross responded to provide water and nourishment for firefighters, and also to assist the displaced residents.

Chief Larry Farley, Capt. Adam Rose and Lt. Andy Haston oversaw the rotation of firefighters battling the blaze, calling in additional resources to assist them due to limited water supply and manpower. RCFR Special Operations utilized their drone technology to evaluate structural integrity and fire progression.

Special thanks to everyone who responded: Almaville Volunteer Fire Rescue Department, Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department and Christiana Volunteer Fire Department responded, with additional assistance from Arrington/Williamson County Fire as well.

Deer Run Road is just off the Franklin Pike (State Highway 96), between Coleman Hill Road and Veterans Parkway).

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and is under investigation.
