The new STAR program is a five-day series of conference sessions with noted speakers and breakout sessions, preparing incoming freshmen for their first semester at MTSU and beyond. The five-day series is underway now.

STAR stands for the Student Transition and Academic Readiness Program.

Reports from the university indicate that 400 PLUS new students are already on campus now.

The breakout sessions are part of the MTSU Scholars Academy, which is a two-week freshmen year experience program designed to serve all students, with emphasis on the needs of first generation and/or Pell-eligible students, by providing them with a supportive learning environment. Study skills workshops, team-building exercises, leadership training, the summer reading program and service-learning projects are integral aspects of this program.
