Murfreesboro, TN (Sept 25, 2019) - Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH) is excited to announce the first Girl Scouts Recycling Craft Day at the Habitat ReStore on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9am to noon. Girls scouts will learn about the importance of recycling and how the ReStore encourages people to donate household items to the store and then sells those to people who give them new life.
The recycling crafts that the girl scouts will participate in include using cabinet doors to create decorative trays and key holders, decoupage and painted furniture and making furniture out of shipping pallets. Girl Scouts can sign up with their troop leaders or at: https://tinyurl.com/yycvafdj or contact RCHFH: 615-890-5877.
The ReStore keeps over 560 tons of materials out of area landfills every year and encourages people to reuse and repurpose household goods. They accept donations of furniture, home accessories, working appliances, lighting, flooring, windows, doors, and building materials. The ReStore received a grant from the Bonnaroo Works Fund and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT) to encourage people to recycle and promote solid waste reduction. The ReStore is also partnering with RecycleRutherford.
