Fake phone calls from someone claiming to be with the IRS or Social Security Office have been increasing in recent weeks for Rutherford County residents. The calls start out with a recorded message suggesting your social security number has been compromised and if you refuse to talk to an agent then it could be considered a crime.

The calls are scams, so never fall for them. Again, if you get a call asking for your personal information, hang up regardless of what your caller ID may or may not say.
MAKE sure you advise your elderly friends and family along with teens and children not to give out personal information on the phone, ever.
