A car rear ended a semi truck early Thursday morning on I-24 headed towards downtown Nashville. The wreck happened in the area of Antioch and Haywood Lane.

Before the truck could come to a complete stop, it dragged the car several hundred feet down the interstate.

Reports show the motorist that rear ended the tractor trailer truck was killed.

The man killed Thursday at 3:45 a.m. in a car-tractor trailer collision on I-24 East at Haywood Lane is identified as Jeremias Navarrete, 27, of Bell Road.

Navarrete was driving his 2017 Honda Accord east on I-24 when he struck the rear of a tractor trailer also traveling eastbound on I-24. The Accord became lodged under the trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer, Gregory Johnson, 55, of Manchester, Tennessee, pulled over. He was not injured.

There was evidence of alcohol involvement on the part of Navarrete. Toxicology testing will be conducted to determine whether he was impaired.
