The first step will include the clearing of almost an entire city block in downtown Murfreesboro... Developers are about to take down the old First Methodist Church building to make way for a new lifestyle structure that will include retail, office and living space.

City Manager Craig Tindall explains...

Again, the old First Methodist bell tower and sanctuary will be preserved.

Tindall told WGNS contractors plan to start on a parking garage as soon as the land is ready...

A new timeline of when the development will be complete has not been announced.

HIGHLIGHT:

The hotel is expected to include 110 rooms. The residential portion of the development anticipates approximately 55 residential units with nearby access to office and retail space with a restaurant and public parking garage. The four to six-story structure development will include more than one building with up to 200,000 square feet.
