Murfreesboro, TN (Rutherford County)--The time for the first Rutherford County Steering Committee Meeting of 2020 has moved to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6 to accommodate Rutherford County legislative delegates' schedules.

State of Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson will be in attendance to hear Rutherford County Commissioners' concerns regarding planning in a high growth county. Senator Johnson is very familiar with the subject, hailing from neighboring Williamson County.

Senator Johnson will lead the discussion of upcoming legislation, including the possibility of dealing with the "break-even point" (BEP) formula in high growth counties; meaning an environment in which revenues match costs. He will also speak about his urgent plea to the General Assembly to develop a pilot using G2Lytics, a software and cloud-based technology company specializing in tax fraud detection, to identify and stop the sales tax leakage, creating a fair playing field for local sales taxes.

The meeting will take place in the main chamber of the Courthouse. Other local leaders are expected to attend. As with any committee meeting, the public is invited.
