Domestic Violence Laws May Get Tougher

Counties across the state will feel the pinch of a newly proposed and unfunded law suggested by Governor Bill Haslam. The governor has proposed mandatory jail sentences of 45-days for persons convicted twice of domestic abuse. For domestic abusers who are convicted three or more times on domestic assault charges, they would be required to spend 120-days in the local jail.
