On Saturday, March 7th from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. the local Habitat for Humanity will work on a special home building project in their Habitat Re-Store parking lot (850 Mercury Blvd).

Habitat for Humanity International, Lowe's and approximately 6,000 women volunteers will unite in more than 235 communities in the United States, India and Canada for International Women Build Week from March 1-8 to highlight the global need for safe and affordable housing. A prelude to International Women's Day, the global event aims to build and repair nearly 540 homes while raising awareness of housing issues facing women and their families.

Habitat and Lowe's are providing the tools for women to empower and educate themselves on skills used when repairing and restoring homes. By using the hashtag #BuildHer to share inspirational stories, experiences and ways to positively impact communities, Habitat and Lowe's are uniting women for a central goal of encouraging and building each other up.

On Saturday, March 7 volunteers from Lowe's, Schneider Electric, and other Habitat supporters will come together and build wall panels that will be used for a home in Legacy Pointe. The Habitat Future Homeowner for this house is Melody, a single mother of three, including twin boys. Melody is a nurse in home health and she will work hand-in-hand with volunteers that day. As the wall panels are built, they will be used to construct a temporary Habitat house right there in the parking lot! Volunteers will be able to walk through the house with the future homeowner and sign the walls with good wishes, knowing that those will always be in those walls! The panel build gives RCHFH an opportunity to engage with more volunteers while advocating for the mission.
