A 23-year old Shelby County woman was killed on I-24 near the Rutherford-Davidson County line around 4:30 Sunday morning.
Police say that the female had been driving her Nissan Versa eastbound on I-24 (toward Murfreesboro) appeared to have been driving on the rim when it hit the guard rail.
A person ran to help the woman, but she apparantly became frightened and ran. Reportedly she was only wearing one shoe when several vehicles hit her.
An autopsy will be performed, however there were no signs of drugs, alcohol or other wrong doing.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
