(MURFREESBORO) Local resident Barb Ford loves to cook and she loves this community. The kitchen at Milano II, 114 E. College St., will "feed the hungry" out front from on Wednesday. All meals are served "to go" outside the restaurant at marked in 6-foot distances to assure social distancing.

Ford was not alone, several community spirited patrons assisted. THANK YOU to Rita Ash, Jack Barakat, Shannon Bouldin, Frank Cash, Lynn DeGroff, Jeanmarie Martin-Hill, Jamie McKay, Marilyn Newsom, Tonya Nicholson, Gloria Payne, Tina Patel, Carolyn Tumbleson, and Lorie Witt

Ford told WGNS, "Tuesday (4/14/2020) was a day of triumph. We fed over 180 people a nutritious lunch and made many friends. We cannot thank you enough for your hard work, donations and caring kindness."

"Some things we learned on Tuesday, first, don't panic if there's not a line out the door! People came slowly, but they came, and they were hungry. The word got out over time thanks to your help and follow up among different organizations and contacts."

Ford noted, "Wednesday (4/15/2020) we will wait until 12:30PM to distribute meals, just to be sure we have enough food for those coming to our door."

She said, "We believe that Wednesday will be busier, so if you're a volunteer, get ready! If you aren't on the schedule yet, don't worry. We will be rotating volunteers and will put out a schedule for next Tuesday and Wednesday by the end of this week. We may end up doing two shifts each day, so that no one gets worn out and we all stay cheerful."

Barb commented, "To be sure we are all aware and following the safety rules, please read and review the COVID 19 Safety Rules from World Central Kitchen. We ask everybody to bring their own masks and be patient with someone checking your temperature at the start of work. You have all been such great sports and great volunteers, we are grateful to call you our friends!" CLICK HERE to see safety rules and preparation guidelines.
