MURFREESBORO VIGIL SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY:
A vigil has been planned in Murfreesboro in honor of the man who died during a Minneapolis Police arrest this past week. The vigil will be on the local square Sunday afternoon between 3 and 6PM.
George Floyd was said to have died minutes after an officer of the law put his knee on his neck during what appeared to be a traffic stop while two other officers in Minneapolis were on his back and legs. A fourth officer was reported to be standing over the three other officers during the incident. All three of the officers who were allegedly holding the 46-year-old down have been fired.
Floyd lost consciousness 4 minutes into police holding him down. His death happened after his lifeless body was placed onto a stretcher by paramedics.
The case is still under investigation by the FBI.
Floyd worked security for Conga Latin Bistro, a small restaurant and bar that was known for their Spanish-Latin dishes.
The restaurant workers posted on their Facebook page, "Everyone who met him knows he was a kind and respectful person, Rest In Peace, amazing still can't believe it."
The vigil in Murfreesboro is being planned by a man named Mike McDougal. It will be on the Murfreesboro Square Sunday between 3 and 6pm. Reports indicate McDougal is asking for the those who attend the vigil to be peaceful.
