The popular Duck River that runs through Bedford County was the site of a deadly accident this past weekend.

A kayaking accident has left a 15 year old girl from Manchester dead. Evidently, the teen was with her family on the Duck River when the accident occurred near Courtner's Mill.

The girl was said to have been pinned under her kayak after it overturned. She was then swept into a tree that was washed into the waterway. Reports indicate her parents tried to free her without success due to the strong currents this past Sunday.

Bedford County EMS were called to the scene along with the Bedford County Fire Department, Normandy Fire, Bedford County Sheriff's Department and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. Rescue workers say the teenager was reportedly wearing a life jacket.
