WGNS has an update on the story involving a 60-year-old man who was accused of inappropriately touching a mail carrier in Murfreesboro. The subject has since been convicted in a Rutherford County Courtroom after a guilty plea was filed.

60-Year-old Randy Alan McDonald was apprehended after a female postal delivery woman told police that he touched himself and then reached into her vehicle touching her leg. The incident was reported this past month.

While delivering mail to an East State Street home, the victim claims that McDonald met her at the end of his driveway. The victim said, "He then asked her if she had a boyfriend and if she would like to hook up with him?" A police report shows that McDonald was then accused of inappropriately touching himself as he reached into the victims' vehicle and place one hand on the mail carriers' leg.

Before anything else could happen, the woman quickly drove off and later noticed the man had ridden his bicycle one street over, which was her next stop. When McDonald saw the female a second time, he rode his bike into the path of her vehicle. The woman called her boss and police were quickly summoned.

A plain clothed detective went to McDonald who admitted that he had talked to the letter carrier, because they were friends. When asked by the SVU Detective why he touched the victims leg he responded, "I don't know, we are just friends." McDonald then asked the detective why he was being asked so many questions and "Are you a cop?" The detective responded, "Yes sir, I am."

The actions of McDonald led to the charge of simple assault being filed. Police also informed the US Postal Inspector about the incident to see if additional charges could be filed.

Since that time, McDonald has appeared before a judge and plead guilty to "Assault." He will spend six months in the Rutherford County Workhouse and was ordered to stay away from the victim.
