State Representative Mike Sparks was on the air with WGNS Thursday (6/18/20) morning when he saw one of several protestors in front of the state capital fall down and have what appeared to be a seizure...

Sparks, whose district includes Rutherford County, was outside the capital building when he saw the group of protestors. He said at first, the protestors were not allowing State Troopers access to the man who was having a medical episode.

Eventually, Troopers made their way to the man having a seizure and rendered aid until paramedics arrived.

Ironically, when the event unfolded Sparks was LIVE - on the air with WGNS and talking about media not covering all sides of a story. He noted that the situation of a man having a seizure while protesting the actions of police officers as a whole is a story that should be covered in the media. As Sparks continued, he spotted a reporter...

The man who appeared to have a seizure in front of the capital was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance as the protestors continued to voice their concerns.

In the meantime, Sparks said that national news outlets need to do a better job at covering stories on every level.
