Class members will learn the history and inner workings of Rutherford County and gain useful knowledge about the businesses that make it work. They also have the opportunity to form life-long friendships with community leaders whom they might not have otherwise met.

Leadership Rutherford participants are selected on their own merits through an application process conducted by the program's Council. At a minimum, class members should reflect the diversity of our community. However, no applicant is automatically accepted into the class, and all applicants are subject to the same review process.

Candidates for selection should be defined in broad terms and include, but not be limited to, the following factors:

• Sincere commitment, motivation and interest to serve the community
• Demonstrate commitment by past community activities
• Interest or intention in volunteering in the community
• Possesses potential or existing opportunities for advancement to leadership positions within their own organizations, which in turn may play a significant role in the community
• Commitment to attend all of the Leadership Rutherford program sessions
• Applicant must be a resident of Rutherford County for at least one continuous year
• Applicant must have at least 2 years of full-time employment experience
• Applicant must be at least 25 years of age.

The Leadership Rutherford Council makes a diligent effort to select participants who represent a cross-section of the community. The diversity of perspectives among participants generates much of the meaningful personal interaction and learning in the leadership program. Class size is limited.

Applications must be received by the deadline of 4:30PM on June 30, 2020.
