A 21-year old woman and her two-year old daughter were killed in a crash early Sunday (2/26/2012) morning. Reports indicate that 23-year old Christopher Gaines was driving his 2007 Chevy Malibu on Richland Road near the intersection of the Woodbury Pike when he ran off the roadway, struck a tree on the driver's side and then hit two parked vehicles before coming to a stop.

Trooper Michael Marvin says that neither of the adults were wearing a seat belt. Little Allyssa was in a child restraint seat, but the officer says it was not fastened properly.

Killed in the crash were Amanda Odom of Cedar Ridge Court in Woodbury. The couple's daughter, Allysa Goins also died in the tragedy that occured at 12:35 Sunday morning. Christopher A. Goins of Bradyville Pike here in Murfreesboro was the driver of the sedan. He was treated and released for what were described as minor injuries.

Trooper Marvin says the proper use of seat belts would have made a difference in this crash. He also said blood-alcohol tests were requested and that the medical examiner was notified. Critations and criminal charges are pending.
