On Monday (2/27/2012) the Tennessee Supreme Court in Jackson delivered its verdict in the case of Norman Redwing versus the Catholic Bishop of the diocese of Memphis. Redwing will be allowed to move forward in the courts, reversing a lower court of appeals verdict.

A spokesperson noted that this gives victims of clergy sexual abuse their first huge victory in holding the Catholic Church in the state of Tennessee accountable for crimes against children.

In the meantime, the Tennessee legislature's bill #2278, sponsored by Representative Richard Floyd of Chattanooga, is calling for the abolishing of the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse.
