StoneCrest Medical Center and sister facility, Centennial Medical Center, recently donated computed radiography medical imaging systems to Project C.U.R.E.  The computed radiography reader systems produce high quality x-ray images of different areas of the body, such as chest, abdomen and head.

PROJECT C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief & Equipment) provides donated medical equipment and supplies to partner organizations that help meet the healthcare needs of underserved communities around the world.  The donated imaging equipment would cost about $180,000.

“As we continue to expand and upgrade our equipment to meet the growing needs of our community, I am glad we are also able to help meet the needs of underserved communities around the world,” said Dawn Warren, Director of Imaging Services at StoneCrest.

“An exceptional piece of equipment such as the one donated from Centennial will be shipped to one of our more modern facilities that is able to utilize it appropriately,” said Gregg Cox, Project C.U.R.E. Nashville Director.

Prior to shipping to any overseas facility, a trained volunteer evaluator will travel to the facility and conduct an on-site assessment, he said. After meeting with the doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals following a standardized evaluation procedure, the evaluation will be used to determine the appropriate supplies and equipment for that particular project.

Since its inception 25 years ago, PROJECT C.U.R.E. has delivered medical relief to needy people in more than 125 countries.
