Almost 200 Hunger Games fans gathered at Linebaugh Library Thursday to celebrate the film adaptation of the best-selling young adult novel. The party was a part of Read To Succeed's One Book Community Read, an annual program that encourages the community to join together to read a particular book. This year's selection is the bestselling adventure novel by Suzanne Collins. One Book is a collaboration of Read To Succeed, Ingram Content Group, Linebaugh Library, Barnes & Noble, Greenhouse Ministries and United Way to promote reading and literacy in Rutherford County.

People were asked to bring a can of food for Greenhouse Ministries for the premiere party, and they raised almost 400 cans of food for the non-profit's pantry.

Dozens of Katniss and Captiol-clad fans competed in a costume contest and a trivia contest, with One Book co-chair Kory Wells--dressed as Effie Trinket--emceeing. Buffalo Wild Wings and Slick Pig donated food for the event.

"The party was an amazing event for readers of all ages," said Laura Beth Payne, MTSU English professor and One Book co-chair. "It was great to see kids and parents celebrate a book and support a great cause."

Community reaction and involvement has been so overwhelming, Murfreesboro even made a national top 20 list of cities most obsessed with the book.
