UPDATE: Construction of the Mosque

The Murfreesboro mosque on Veals Road is nearing completion and the plaintiffs against the mosque are about to see their case dismissed, if the county attorney has his say. The attorney for Rutherford County wants the complaint that the county did not give proper public notice for the mosque to be constructed to be dismissed. The motion was recently filed with Chancellor Robert Corlew. Now, the courts will decide whether or not to move forward with a trial that has been scheduled for April 25th and 26th.

In the meantime, the construction of the mosque being built by the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro is progressing. The local Muslims have raised nearly enough money to cover all the costs involved for building the structure. The Islamic Center’s fundraising goal is $1.8-million dollars. To date, they have raised $1.3-million dollars to cover the costs of construction.
