Rutherford County Engineer Del Corbitt opened his campaign for the position of Rutherford County Highway Superintendent. The 14-year engineer is running as an independent candidate.
Corbitt, who has worked as a county engineer for 14-years, said, "Road and bridge safety and maintenance have nothing to do with party affiliation. The individual in this position should be elected based on the technical knowledge and skills necessary to analyze infrastructure needs to ensure the safety and welfare of our community."
During his time with the county, Corbitt has been involved with various road projects involving county drainage issues. Among those, he supervised the $8 million construction of Halls Hill Pike.
The Florida native has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the University of Texas and a Master's degree in Public Health from Tulane University. He came to Rutherford County after 25 years of service in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Public Health Service.
