Beautiful murals are being created in the education room at the Patterson Community Center. The mural project titled The Joy of Community is a collaborative venture between Middle Tennessee State University, Patterson Park, Bradley Academy, and Murfreesboro City Schools.

The mural will contain four walls and have four distinct themes: the arts, community, life skills, and sports.

Project Director Dr.  Debrah C. Sickler-Voigt said that their goal is to identify how building a positive sense of community enhances the community and its inhabitants.

Participants from MTSU’s art education program worked with all fourth and fifth grade classes at Bradley Academy along with students attending Patterson Park and are painting the walls to create mosaic designs for the mural.
