La Vergne has joined Murfreesboro in banning outdoor burning. Effective immediately outdoor burning has been banned in La Vergne due to the extremely dry conditions this summer. The ban includes all open burning and recreational fires in the city ofLa Vergne. 

La Vergne is the latest to add their name to the list of areas issuing a ban on outdoor burning. They join Murfreesboro and Smyrna banning outdoor burning and recreational fires due to the extremely dry conditions this summer. La Vergne officials say police may issue citations to people in violation of the burning ban.

Interim La Vergne City Administrator Bruce Richardson says at this time, the state has not prohibited fireworks. He says if and when that decision is made, La Vergne will abide by that ruling.
