A 28-year old Richland Richardson Road resident was charged with possession of a synthetic drug with the intent to distribute it. Ian H. Thomas was pulled over on Lytle Street at North West Broad. The reporting officer wrote that when he handed over his ID, he was visibly shaking.

Police then asked Thomas if he was in possession of anything illegal. Upon searching his SUV, police found 3-ounces of methcathinone. Methcathinone is a drug produced in illegal laboratories and sold as a methamphetamine alternative.

Thomas allegedly told the arresting officer that he intended to drive to Cincinnati, Ohio where he would sell the synthetic drug at an upcoming light show.
