Burglary report didn't add up, according to what a Murfreesboro police officer wrote

You may call it a hunch, but most officers would call it an investigation...

Several days ago Officer Brown of the Murfreesboro Police Department showed up at a home on Oak Hill Drive to file a report on a possible burglary and vandalism case. Once in the home the occupants told the officer they were in the process of moving and at some point, someone broke into the home and vandalized it.

The victim showed police around the house and the first stop was the kitchen where a large amount of beer was found along with a flat screen TV. The next stop included a window in an upstairs room that had been shattered. The only problem was there was no glass on the carpet. The resident suggested that his significant other had cleaned and vacuumed the debris prior to the officer’s arrival. The officer noted that there was dirt all around the window and on the carpet. In other words, there were no signs that anything had been cleaned, according to the report. The only sign that was evident was the lack of glass.

The victim later took the officer to a bathroom where a toilet had been broken… something apparently didn’t add up. The officer told the resident that filing a false report is a crime and that, quote - “the damage appeared to be old and not caused by a burglary.” The man quickly told the officer, “that he had worked for the Murfreesboro Police Department.”

At this point no arrest has been made and a suspect has not been named.
