A 19-year old Murfreesboro man had a not so funny prank pulled on him this past week… someone stole his $7,000 wheelchair. The Richardson Avenue victim told authorities that he left to go somewhere with a friend and returned a mere thirty minutes later only to find that his wheelchair had been stolen. Franzell Batts told officers that he thought it was a prank at first, but he realized it was more cynical when he didn’t get his chair back.
The report stated, “Upon returning to his residence approximately 30-minutes later, he noticed his wheelchair was missing.” Batts is evidently a little more patient than most people… he waited for his wheelchair to be returned a whole day before calling the authorities. The officer who filed the report wrote, “There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.”
It is not known if Batts had insurance to cover his loss.
