Saturday (6/8/2013) was a great day for a triathlon and the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department sponsored its Annual Small Fry Tri in the Old Fort Park.

Hundreds of pre-school youngsters gathered at 10:00AM to run, ride their tricycles and bicycles and then the water part includes a dash through sprinklers. It was allowable to have personal trainers close at hand to keep the athletes on course.

They ran to a point where their personal bicycles and tricycles were parked. The pre-school athletes then mounted the cycles and sped away.
Chance To Show-Off Facilities
The annual event also gives the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department an opportunity to showcase its services.
Tennis games were in progress adjacent to the Small Fry Tri and the renovated Kid's Castle playground was like a magnet to the youngsters after the race.
The city's Old Fort Golf Course and historic Fortress Rosecrans also in the park, enjoyed the overflow crowd.
In addition, visitors had an opportunity to see the many pavilions that were being used for birthday parties and family gatherings.
Sprinklers Were The Big Attraction
The sprinkler part turned out to be the most popular with many of the top athletes stopping to run back and forth for a considerable time. Others decided to simply stand for a good while and enjoy the cool water.

Everyone Received Trophy
All of the star athletes received a trophy and a wild moment on stage where family and probably paparazzi captured the historic moment.
