Weather Prefect for Secret Garden Tour
Saturday (6/8/2013) proved to have the perfect weather for the Discovery Center's Annual Secret Garden Tour.
When asked if the annual Secret Garden Tours were more than a fun event for the Discovery Center. Executive Director Tara MacDougall (left photo) said that the goal of the entire campus around the Murfree Spring Wetlands was to educate all ages. "
The importance of preserving our natural environment is a big part of the Discovery Center's mission. Certainly gardening is an important aspect of the circle of life."
One patron who was snapping pictures told WGNS that they love visiting the gardens each year to get ideas on ways to make their yard more attractive. They noted that many of the gardens included water features and natural displays in small spaces, and this fit their yard perfectly.

The 2013 Secret Garden Tour was one of the best attended. They included: Danielle Holmes (4336 Pretoria Run, 37128), Ellie Leese (1539 Charleston Court, 37130); Dr. Randall Rickard & Dr. Susan Andrews, 910 Hazelwood Street, 37128); Dr. & Mrs. Jim Boerner (2239 Shannon Drive, 37129); and Sinking Creek Farms (2473 Battleground Drive, 37129).

Some of the garden settings set a mood aurally, especially with the sound of fountains and streams.

There were a variety of gardens and setting in this year's "Secret Garden Tour".

And sometimes, the entrances to the gardens were as dramatic as the vegetation itself.

The gardens all used their natural surroundings as a way to further enhance its beauty.
